In Triplicate is a trio of internationally acclaimed musicians — violinist Jasmine Lin, cellist Clancy Newman, and bassist Nate Farrington — who compose, arrange, and perform their own music. Known for their impeccable virtuosity, they have graduated from the world's top music schools, recorded on over a dozen record labels, and performed in over 15 countries across 5 continents.
While the members of In Triplicate are classically trained, their insatiable desire for invention leads them far outside of the classical realm, with forays into jazz, bluegrass, funk, rock, paper, scissors, and Martian. Each member brings a different set of skills and interests to the table, and all three write their own music: Jasmine arranges irresistibles such as the Gipsy Kings, has composed ringtones for Acaia coffee, and pits midi whistles against human glissandos; Clancy composed his first opus at age 7, survived a mosh pit at age 17, and premiered his cello concerto at age 27; Nate sets his own poems to music, creates movie scores, and can play any instrument blindfolded, including medical instruments. Together these unique perspectives form a rich concert experience full of surprises, while always radiating accessibility and freshness.
In Triplicate's trio collaboration began during the pandemic when they worked together on an arrangement of “The Canyon Wren” by Emy Phelps, improvising with each other virtually and spending over 100 hours recording and compiling tracks. This led to a residency at San Diego State University, and since then they have been exploring new paths, often wild and untamed at first... but logical and even inevitable in retrospect.
